Cognitive Behavioural Chairwork in Action: Introductory and Advanced Methods

These popular two day workshops will introduce therapists to the practical applications of chairwork in CBT and allied forms of psychotherapy.

Day one introduces the basic forms and theoretical foundations of chairwork. Using didactic teaching, video demonstrations, and live demonstrations, participants will learn how chairwork can be applied to negative automatic thoughts, distressing emotions, cognitive processes (e.g. self-criticism), core beliefs, and socialisation to the CBT model.  This will include use of empty-chair, two-chair, and role-play techniques.

Day two introduces more advanced applications of chairwork. Participants will learn how chairwork is utilised in allied models of psychotherapy including schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. Key techniques covered in this workshop will include compassion for self-criticism, multiple selves, unfinished business, historical role-play, enactive rescripting, and many others.

These workshops are open to clinicians who are new or familiar with chairwork. It will incorporate didactic teaching, video demonstrations, live demonstrations, and practice role-plays.
